Whoops. On the eve of the Venice premiere of ‘Burn After Reading’, Britain once again sees life imitate art with yet more sensitive data being unexpectedly lost. After around 15,000 customers’ personal data was lost by the HM Revenue and Customs, 370,000 customers’ details were lost by HSBC and 11 million Natwest customers’ data was stolen, personal financial details were found on a computer, bought for just £35 on eBay.
Luckily, it was found by an IT manager who alerted the appropriate authorities rather than lunk-headed gymn employees, but it’s still galling to see such cock-ups, the kind we laugh at in films, actually happening in real life. Usually we connect things that happen in films to real world events, like ‘Cloverfield’ conjuring up images of 9/11, but it becomes scary when things start to go hand-in-hand.

"You steal my details?"
Rumours that a hatchet-wielding John Malkovich has been sent do deal with those responsible remain unconfirmed, so have a look at his axework in the international trailer.
